Content Creation

A-M Journal, published by Arts-Matter, is a new print publication and digital platform that curates a global collection of storytellers featuring original content from the fields of Art, Architecture & Design, Dance, Fashion, Music, and Literature. A-M Journal is an extension of the cultural agenda and conversation that we have generated at Arts-Matter. The premise for our magazine and our choice of contributors is predicated on the same principles we use to formulate our programming calendar. We look for people of substance who have something interesting to say— not only about their work, but also about life beyond the pursuit of a single discipline.

Original content featuring the most directional voices from across the globe, shot by leading fashion photographers. From artist studios in London, to a site-specific artwork in Sweden, the mountains of Nigeria, the street dancing scene in Sydney, the Wu Tang district in NY, a secret LA location with artist activists, & a flower lab in Tokyo - A-M Journal is a global arts publication unlike anything else created in the region.

In celebration of TimesTalks’ twentieth anniversary, Michelle and The New York Times commissioned French photographer Brigitte Lacombe, known for her influential and revelatory portraiture, to shoot a selection of the most iconic and directional voices from the last two decades of TimesTalks. Michelle served as the Editorial Director and Editor-in-Chief of this prestigious publication. Subjects include a vast array of creative, business, technology, policy, social justice and political leaders including actor Meryl Streep, activist Angela Davis, artist Ai Weiwei, musician John Legend, former attorney general Eric Holder, Former Vice President Al Gore, and director Martin Scorsese. The result was a beautiful book Forward: Twenty Years of TimesTalks, documenting some of the greatest cultural figures of our time.

Michelle was the founding Editor-in-Chief of NeueJournal, a 300-page hardcover book published by NeueHouse and serving as the brand’s central marketing, content and supplemental programming platform. The book featured multiple covers with Meryl Streep, Ed Ruscha, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robin Wright, Oscar Isaacs, Frank Stella, Marie Agnes Gillot and Mary Heilman. Quickly considered a landmark achievement in branded content, NeueJournal was lauded as a new “design bible” by The Observer, and praised by a number of fashion and art media platforms including Harper’s Bazar, W Magazine, T Magazine, The Cut, and Yahoo Style to name a few.
